Overview

Description

This 15-room Queen Anne Victorian on the National Register of Historic Places, built in 1892, is conveniently located 4 miles from the airport, 2 miles or so to St. Peter's Hospital and less than 1 mile to the Montana State Capital complexes, and just over a mile or less to Carroll College and University of Montana, Helena Campus. It is just steps to many restaurants, The Myrna Loy Theater, the Grandstreet Theatre, the Cinemark Movie house, The Holter Museum of Art and other museums. There are numerous churches within walking distance, and it is only 2 blocks from downtown Helena.
There are 3 rooms available - the Turret Room with a turret in it, 2 stained glass windows and a queen bed; the Blue Room with a king bed; and the Aquarium Room with a twin bed. All rooms come with an apartment size refrigerator, a microwave and coffee maker. There is a separate laundry area, shared kitchen, free wifi, power and utilities, and Dish network included. Tenant would have free access to most of the house. Street parking on quiet street.
Owners are a retired Administrative Law Judge who worked for Labor and Industry for the State of Montana, and a retired RN.
The Aquarium Room rents for $650 per month, and the Turret Room and Blue Room rent for $750 per month. This is not a B&B, but rather more of a boarding house, with rooms in my private residence. Please indicate which room you would like when you respond.

I stayed with Ann at the Silverman House for 6 months in 2016. It was a wonderful experience! I stayed in the turret room which was spacious and very comfortable. There was plenty of storage room and had I needed more I'm sure Anne would have accomodated me. There is laundry in the basement - it's an historic Victorian and the stairs may be challenging for some, but as a "senior" I did fine with care. There is a TV with DVD in the room and a dorm sized fridge. Ann graciously shares the kitchen and all her cooking utensiles if you want to cook. I regularly ate dinner with Ann and her husband. They are kind, intelligent, lively dinner companions! The house is in a prime location for walkability; just blocks from historic downtown, shops, restaurants, theater, Civic Center and library. 2 blocks from the historic chapel gives dramtic views and the sound of the carillon. Lisa, in the other review, describes the house very well. It's beautiful! I loved living in the Silverman house and getting to know Ann and her husband. It was the best living arrangement and they have become wonderful friends. I can't recommend this establishment highly enough!

Hello, my name is Lisa... I stayed in this beautiful home in May 2012, during a concert tour to Helena, Montana. I was there for 4 nights and had a fabulous stay while there. The home was in extremely clean condition and very inviting. I love historic homes and felt it a privilege to have stayed in this one. I highly recommend it because of the wonderful features that it has. The wood floors and staircase were beautiful with rich wood grain. The moldings around the ceiling and base boards were beautiful too. I especially loved the fireplaces with antique mirrors above the mantle, and ceramic tiles displayed on them. The wood in the entire home was in such great condition, and the walls were all painted in such pretty colors. If walls could talk, I would have loved to learn what stories they could taught. I highly recommend this home to rent. I stayed in the "under the sea" room upstairs. The walls and ceiling were entertaining with jellyfish, sea shells, a mermaid and jeweled treasures painted on them. Very cute. The other bedroom had two beautiful stained glass windows with molding that trimmed the windows about a foot wide. Very pretty, and the two trivet windows in the bedroom and downstairs was a special feature that I enjoyed as well. The bathrooms were very clean and worked out very well for us three women who stayed there together. I enjoyed the hospitality of the owners of the home. They made my stay wonderful. I look forward to the day when I can visit them again and learn more about the history of this home. I give this home 3 thumbs up even though I just have 2 thumbs. Book your stay quickly and become part of the historical story of this home. Have a GREAT HAIR DAY, Lisa Cottrell, Salt Lake City, Utah
